Elle est professeure à l'Université de Californie Los Angeles dans le departement d'Architecture et d'Urban Design où elle a été chargée de cours de 2013 à 2014.


Ian détient un Bachelor en Sciences du Journalisme du departement Médias de l'Université d'Illinois situé à Urbana-Champaign et un Master en Arts Plastiques du programme Media Design Practices du ArtCenter College of Design à Pasadena, où il a reçu en 2014 la récompense de Post-Graduate Design Fellow de la Milken Family Foundation.
